The Parent Partnership Service offers the following FREE workshops for parents:

Understanding School Action and School Action Plus

Is your child on the Special Education Needs Register? Would you like to find out the difference between School Action and School Action Plus? Would you like to improve your understanding of IEPs?

Understanding Statutory Assessment

Is your child heading towards a statutory assessment? Would you like to find out more about the statutory assessment process? Are you unsure of how to fill in the necessary paperwork to apply for a statutory assessment?

Understanding Annual Reviews

Does your child have a statement of special educational needs? Would you like to learn more about the process of the annual review? Are you unsure on your role in the annual review process? Would you like to find out how to fill in the paperwork that you may be sent before the annual review? Would you like to learn more about your right of appeal following an annual review?

Positive Communiaction with Schools

Do you find it hard going into school to discuss your child's SEN? Would you like to improve how you prepare for school meetings? If so this workshop is for you! The session will look at why it is important that parents and school act as partners in the child's education and how this can be achieved. It also looks at how parents can prepare effectively for school meetings.

Graduated Response workshop

This one day workshop is open to professionals from health, social care, schools, nurseries, children's centres, private day nurseries and voluntary organisations. It explores

  • the role of the Parent Partnership Service
  • the arrangements for SEN in mainstream schools and Early Years settings
  • the SEN Code of Practice
  • the process of statutory assessment
