Volunteering

The Stoke-on-Trent Parent Partnership Service needs volunteers to support parents of children of special educational needs.

Our volunteers are known as Independent Parental Supporters and they may help parents/carers with:

  • viewing schools
  • completing forms
  • preparing for school meetings and helping them to express their concerns during the meetings
  • explaining the education system, the structures and roles of professionals and any confusing terminology
  • annual reviews of statements and individual pupil funding
  • signposting to any relevant literature or other organisations that may be able to help

To download a leaflet about becoming an Independent Parental Supporter click here.

All volunteers complete a free training course so no experience is necessary. The next training course begins on Thursday22nd September 2011. For an example course schedule click here.

For more information or to book a place on the next course please call Emma on 01782 234701. Alternatively complete the volunteer application form and email to parent.partnership@stoke.co.uk
